National Voter Attitudes Toward America’s Forests (April 29, 2011)

Polling memoCommissioned by NASF, the bi-partisan polling team of Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin, Metz & Associates (D) and Public Opinion Strategies (R) partnered to complete a nationwide survey of voters to assess key public perceptions and values related to forests. The poll found seven out of ten voters support maintaining or increasing efforts to protect forests and trees in their state.

NASF Letter: Statement on EPA Area Source Rule (August 23, 2010)

NASF respectfully submits the following comments in response to the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) proposed National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for Area Sources (Docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OAR-2006-0790). NASF seeks to discuss, develop, sponsor and promote programs and activities which will advance the practice of sustainable forestry, the conservation and protection of forest lands and associated resources and the establishment and management of the Nation's forests. We offer the following suggestions to the proposed rule in order to better utilize forest derived biomass as a source of renewable energy.

NASF Letter: NASF Statement on EPA Major Source Rule (August 23, 2010)

NASF respectfully submits the following comments in response to the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) proposed National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for Major Sources. NASF offers suggestions to the proposed rule in order to better utilize forest derived biomass as a source of renewable energy. NASF has an interest in promoting markets for forest products including forest derived biomass. New markets for biomass have significant potential to improve the management of both private and public forest lands.

NASF Resolution No. 2009-6: Forest Inventory & Analysis (FIA) Program Funding and Priorities

A current and accurate forest inventory is a threshold requirement if we are to conserve and restore all of America's forests. The inventory must address the rapidly emerging issues of climate change, carbon, biomass, and land use change. But portions of the nation's forests are not being inventoried, funding is inadequate to implement FIA as currently designed, and FIA needs to be enhanced to provide data relevant to current and emerging issues.

NASF Letter: Healthy Forests Reserve Program interim final rule - August 15, 2006


NASF supported the passage of the Healthy Forests Restoration Act and actively participated in developing regulations to implement several titles of the Act. We have a long-standing working relationship with NRCS in providing technical assistance services for implementing conservation programs with private forest
landowners. The following comments on the rule reflect NASF's suggestions for strengthening the program to better meet the intent of the law...
