New report on forest health conditions in Alaska
Posted on Thursday, May 13, 2010Region 10 of the USDA Forest Service has released a 73-page report on the health of Alaska's forests, which include some of the largest unbroken swaths of forest in the United States. Based on aerial surveys, the report found that 660,000 acres of forest has suffered damage from insects, disease, and other forms of decline, out of a total of 33.6 million acres surveyed.
