Arkansas distributes equipment to volunteer fire departments
Posted on Wednesday, May 5, 2010On April 28, Arkansas Forestry Commission distributed the first 57 of 285 Wildland Firefighting Equipment Kits to fire departments affected by the 2009 Ice Storm at the AFC Rural Fire Protection Program Facility in Greenbrier. Equipment for the kits were purchased with funds from a $3.6 million American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grant. The vast amount of tree debris generated by the ice storm can hinder firefighting crews and cause more intense wildland fires.
